Man jailed in 76-year-old N Carolina man’s hit-and-run death
BURLINGTON, N.C. (AP) — An arrest has been made more than two weeks after the hit-and-run death of a 76-year-old North Carolina man.
Citing a Burlington police release, news outlets report 40-year-old Johnny Ray Sowell was arrested Tuesday in the June 26 death of James Basili Hhando. The North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Hhando’s death was caused by the crash.
Burlington police released requests for witnesses to the crash and used area surveillance cameras to help identify suspects and vehicles.
Sowell is charged with felony hit-and-run and felony obstruction of justice. The Greensboro man is being held on $10,000 bail.
It’s unclear whether he has a lawyer.
