Keeping warm: FloraCraft donates winter gear to MCC

January 13, 2019

FloraCraft on Friday donated winter clothes to Mason County Central Schools’ Student Support Services program, marking the third year the company has contributed warm attire to local students.

Student Support Services at MCC provides children in need and their families with basic necessities, including a variety of clothing, nonperishable food, toiletries and school supplies.

Denise Jones, who heads the services program, said the winter clothes will be a big help for families who can’t afford to buy them for their children — especially the snow pants.

“Snow pants are in huge demand,” she said. “That’s like getting gold donated. Snow pants are things kids quickly grow out of, or they blow the knees out, so they last only a season, or a couple if you’re lucky, and they’re not cheap. The kids need snow pants to be able to go out and play for recess.”
