Bulgaria Extradites Turk Gangster
ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) _ Bulgaria has extradited a Turkish underworld boss wanted in Turkey for escaping prison while serving time for the killing of a mayor, police said Sunday.
Bulgarian authorities handed Kursat Yilmaz over to Turkish police who escorted the organized crime boss to Istanbul late Saturday.
Yilmaz fled Turkey last year while serving a sentence for ordering his men to kill a mayor and a businessman in southwestern Turkey.
He was arrested in the Bulgarian town of Varna in July and served a nine-month prison term there for illegal entry into the country.
Yilmaz had previously been convicted of extortion and escaped prison on two other occasions.
