Gannett Announces Two Executive Appointments in Newspaper Division
WASHINGTON (AP) _ Gannett Co. announced Friday the appointment of Donna H. Donovan as president and publisher of the Utica, N.Y., Observer-Dispatch and James M. Carey as president and publisher of the Burlington, Vt., Free Press.
Donovan, 39, has been president and publisher of the Burlington newspaper since 1986. She was named executive editor in Utica in 1981 and three years later became presidents and publisher of the Sioux Falls, S.D., Argus Leader.
Carey, 44, has been advertising director of the Rochester, N.Y., Democrat & Chronicle and Times-Union. He was named classified advertising manager of the Burlington Free Press in 1978 and has also served as advertising director of the Fremont, Ohio, News-Messenger, the Lafayette, Ind., Journal and Courier and the Binghamton, N.Y., Press & Sun-Bulletin.
