Police: Speed a factor in fiery crash in Norwalk
NORWALK, Conn. (AP) — Police say a woman has died in a fiery crash that involved three vehicles on a Connecticut highway.
State police say 46-year-old Hongying Tian, of Avon, was driving south on the Merritt Parkway in Norwalk at about 10 p.m. Tuesday
Troopers say she traveled into the median, through a metal guide rail and struck a large tree. She then went across both lanes of the highway and into the grassy shoulder where her vehicle came to rest on fire. Two other vehicles were hit by flying debris.
The victim was ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the hospital.
No one else was hurt.
Police say speed appears to be a factor but are still investigating.
