Monroe FD: Side of car ‘sheared off’ in crash

MONROE — Two people were sent to the hospital after a late-night crash in town, fire officials said.

Late Friday night, first responders rushed to Wheeler Road for a report of a one-car crash. The crash involved a utility pole and a stone wall, officials said.

Two occupants in the car were transported to the hospital by emergency medical services, fire officials said. The extent of their injuries was not known.

Fire officials said most of the passenger side of the car was sheared off in the crash.

“To be clear,” officials said, “firefighters did not cut off the doors.”
