December 9, 2000

ANTERSELVA, Italy (AP) _ Norway anchor Ole Einar Bjoerndalen brought his team back Saturday after a penalty in the third leg to edge the Czech Republic for the victory in the men’s 4 X 7.5- kilometer biathlon relay.

After Norway led through the first two legs, Egil Gjelland’s poor shooting put his team behind the Czechs. But Bjoerndalen charged back, finishing with the best individual time of 22 minutes, 22.1 seconds, to give the Norwegians the win by just over six seconds.

Halvard Hanevold and Frode Andersen handled the first two legs for Norway, which finished with a total time of 1 hour, 34 minutes, 44.2 seconds.

Russia finished third, 1:13.5 behind the winners, followed by Slovenia and Belarus.
