Little church does big things… again
“God Was Taking A Nap” by Owaysha Williams is back Saturday by popular demand.
The free community play was performed as a one-night-only event Nov. 17 at The Free Christian Center at 111 E. Oak St., Kankakee.
Williams, who wrote, directed and starred in the production, received overwhelmingly positive feedback from church and community members, prompting the cast to perform the play one final time.
“I’m truly blessed and amazed,” Williams told the Daily Journal. “There were so many overwhelming requests to do it again.”
“God Was Taking A Nap” will hold its encore performance at 7 p.m. Saturday at The Free Christian Center. Admission is free, but donations are accepted to be used toward the center’s next annual production.
“We are planning to do a faith-based drama play that I wrote and will be directing September 2019 at our church,” Williams said. “It’s called ‘Life Is A Stem From Collard Greens.’ Auditions will be held April 2019 [with] no prior acting experience needed.”
A story featuring Williams’ “God Was Taking A Nap ” appeared in the Life section of the Daily Journal on Nov. 15.
