Bond prices fall

NEW YORK (AP) _ Treasury bond prices were lower at midday today.
The price of the Treasury's main 30-year bond was down 13-32 point, or $4.06 per $1,000 in face value, around midday, while its yield rose to 6.47 percent from 6.44 percent late Friday. Prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Yields on three-month Treasury bills rose to 5.27 percent as the discount added 0.01 percentage point to 5.14 percent. Six-month yields rose to 5.38 percent as the discount increased 0.01 percentage point to 5.18 percent. One-year yields were quoted at 5.49 percent as the discount edged up 0.01 percentage point to 5.22 percent.
Yields are the interest bonds pay by maturity, while the discount is the interest at which they are sold.
