Scandal at Bogota restaurant
Nov. 12, 2013
BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — Colombian police say they are investigating the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman in the parking lot of a famed Bogota restaurant that became the talk of online social networks after the restaurant's owner raised doubts about whether a crime was committed and commented on the woman's attire.
Police say they are investigating a complaint by the woman's family that she was raped early on Nov. 3 in the parking lot of Andres Carne de Res.
Owner Andres Jaramillo drew intense criticism online after a radio interview Tuesday in which he questioned whether the woman was raped and for commenting that she was wearing a mini-skirt.
Jaramillo said video cameras and the testimony of waiters suggested the sex was instead consensual.
Police say no arrests have been made.
