Police: 3 officers injured during protest, 4 arrested
Feb. 18, 2017
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police say three officers were injured and four people were arrested during a protest march in north Philadelphia.
About 100 people gathered across the street from Philadelphia's City Hall on Friday to call for changes in police operations and the criminal justice system. They marched north on Broad Street accompanied by scores of offices on bicycles and patrol vehicles.
Shortly before 7 p.m. Friday, a scuffle occurred between officers and some demonstrators outside the Bank of America branch next to Temple University, where officers were blocking the entrance. Police said the protesters sprayed a dozen officers with black spray paint and pepper spray, injuring three of them, and the bank was vandalized.
Four people were arrested. The injured offices were expected to be treated and released.
