Elderly woman dies in Long Island house fire

LINDENHURST, N.Y. (AP) — An elderly woman has died in a fire at her home on Long Island.
Suffolk County police say 79-year-old Ramona Angwin was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire on 34th Street in Lindenhurst. There were no other injuries.
Police say the fire was reported at about 3 a.m. Thursday. Two nearby residents tried to enter the home but were unable.
Firefighters from the North Lindenhurst Volunteer Fire Department and the Lindenhurst Fire Department put out the fire. The Babylon Town Fire Marshal determined the fire to be non-criminal.
