BEND, Ore. (AP) — A small plane sustained damage in a hard landing at Bend Airport.

KTVZ-TV reports the 75-year-old pilot was returning to the airport from Hood River on Tuesday after taking delivery of his new plane. A strut failed as he touched down, causing the wing and tail to strike the runway.

The pilot escaped injury.

Sgt. Kent Vander Kamp of the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office says the plane — a 2018 Cub Crafter FX280 — had moderate damage.
