WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) _ Joe Mosser had five sacks and Steve Verton caught four passes for 128 yards and a touchdown as Lycoming beat Albright 31-13 Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Lycoming (11-0) clinched the South Region title and will travel to Rowan next week in a national semifinal game.
Mosser, a reserve freshman, added three tackles, while forcing a fumble and then recovering it late in the fourth quarter. The Lycoming defense held Albright (10-2) to its lowest scoring output of the season.
Lycoming took control early in the third quarter. The Warriors went up 24-7 less than five minutes into the second half on a 22-yard field goal by Jeff Cook, and a 53-yard punt return touchdown by Brett Zalonis.
Keith Cadden threw for 159 yards on 7-of-14 passing with two touchdowns. He threw a 63-yard TD to Verton in the first quarter, then hit Steve Hill from 19 yards in the second to give Lycoming a 14-7 halftime lead.
Cadden finished the Lycoming scoring with a 1-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
Albright quarterback Bryan Snyder threw for 298 yards, completing 26 of 47 passes. He had two touchdowns, but was intercepted twice and sacked seven times.
