SCARBOROUGH, Maine (AP) — The Cumberland County Republican Committee is hosting a trap shooting event to raise money for GOP candidates.

The benefit is being held at the Scarborough Fish and Game Association on Saturday.

The committee says participants will shoot 50 targets, enjoy doughnuts, coffee and a barbeque and "spend the day with like-minded individuals." Participants will also be able to win prizes. The group says the first place prize will be an MCP A4 from Windham Weaponry.

The group says the money raised will to go support Cumberland County and state Republican lawmakers who it says "played critical roles in defeating many of the anti-gun bills" introduced last session.
