FORT DIX, N.J. (AP) _ A brigadier general who was suspended from his position as deputy commander of this southern New Jersey Army post for having an inappropriate relationship with a married woman has been reassigned, a spokesman said Friday.

Brig. Gen. Leslie E. Beavers, deputy commander of the U.S. Army Training Center, was suspended from duty effective May 4 based on information from an inquiry by Fort Dix officials, said civilian spokesman Richard Dowling.

Officials completed the investigation Thursday and decided Beavers will be reassigned immediately to the Department of the Army Headquarters in Washington, D.C., Dowling said.

He said a letter of reprimand will be placed in Beavers' file and $500 per month will be deducted from his pay for the next two months.

Beavers was not accused of adultery, but Dowling would not release additional information on the incident. Beavers, 50, is a divorced Vietnam veteran who was graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.

No replacement has been named at Fort Dix.
