JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) — A woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in the stabbing death of her boyfriend in New Jersey.
NJ.com reports that 24-year-old Cateline Hichos pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in the July 2016 death of 22-year-old Kevin Argueta in his family's Union City home. Hichos must serve at least 85 percent of her sentence before being eligible for release and faces deportation after prison.
NJ.com reports that the stabbing occurred after Hichos found image of him with other women on his phone.
Hichos apologized Friday in court but said the couple's relationship was abusive and she was "not sure what came over me." But the judge told her it was clear there was no abuse involved and Argueta was "certainly not attacking you."
