Eastern Malaysia Suffers Flooding
Dec. 12, 2004
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) _ Floods caused by monsoon rains forced the evacuation of thousands in eastern Malaysia on Sunday.
At least three Malaysians have drowned in the worst floods to hit the eastern states of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang in recent years.
More than 6,000 people were evacuated as floodwaters surged following several days of steady rain.
In Kelantan, waters rose more than six feet in the state capital Sunday, shutting down stores and offices, the national news agency Bernama reported.
