OPAL, Va. (AP) — A Virginia man has been arrested after a 2-year-old shot a 4-year-old inside a car.
News outlets report 26-year-old Isaiah Marshall Davis and another adult allegedly left three children between the ages of 2 and 4 at a truck stop in Opal. Authorities say the 2-year-old boy found a gun and shot the girl Friday night.
Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Sgt. James Hartman says someone reported a man carrying a girl with blood on her clothes that night.
Sometime later, authorities received another call for service at a motel and discovered the injured child. The child was treated and released from a hospital. The other children weren't injured.
Davis was charged with several offenses including three counts of abuse and neglect of children.
It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
