Two Taken Hostage at N.J. Limo Service
Mar. 12, 2004
ROSELLE PARK, N.J. (AP) _ A man claiming he had a bomb barricaded himself inside a limousine service and held two people hostage Friday, officials said. One woman was released about an hour later, and negotiations over the second hostage were continuing.
The situation may have started with a stolen auto, Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow said.
A county SWAT team was sent to DJ's Limousine Service, and several blocks around the limousine service building were closed off.
Romankow said he did not know if the man actually had a bomb or whether he had any relationship with the people in the limo service.
Across the street at JDS Cycle Parts, owner Diane Santos said she saw two helmeted officers scale a ladder and rescue one woman, whom she believed was a DJ's employee.
``She seems to be OK. A little shaken,'' Santos said. ``They left real fast with her.''
