NEW YORK (AP) _ Toronto Maple Leafs forward Darcy Tucker was suspended for two games without pay by the NHL on Friday for charging Washington defenseman Sergei Gonchar.

Tucker appeared to leave his feet when he slammed Gonchar into the boards in the third period of Washington's 4-3 victory Thursday night. Gonchar, who leads NHL defensemen with 55 points, struck his head against the corner boards, but was not hurt.

Referees Dave Jackson and Kevin Maguire did not call a penalty on the play.
