MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Ann Klapperich scored 25 points to lead No. 17 Wisconsin to an 87-63 victory over Marquette on Tuesday night.

The Badgers (10-2) built a 15-point halftime lead and then stayed in control the rest of the way.

Katie Voigt added 16 points for Wisconsin in the first game between the intrastate rivals since 1978. Marquette (3-9) was led by Clare Barnard's 15 points.

Wisconsin's Barb Franke, who was averaging 23 points, was in foul trouble most of the game and finished with 14 points.

The Badgers led 51-34 early in the second half after a basket by Klapperich, but Marquette, with Bridget Inman scoring nine points, cut it to 61-51 on a jumper by Barnard with just under 13 minutes left.

Keisha Anderson and Klapperich then scored consecutive baskets for Wisconsin and the Golden Eagles never got that close again.

Wisconsin used a 24-4 run to take a 31-11 lead with 8:48 left in the first half. The Badgers led 45-30 at halftime.

The Badgers have won six straight over the Golden Eagles and own a 7-1 edge in the series.
