Vermont woman charged with burning own home
Jun. 08, 2018
WESTFORD, Vt. (AP) — Police say a Vermont woman is accused of burning down her own house in Westford.
Fifty-seven-year-old Maryanne Mead pleaded not guilty on Friday to first-degree arson.
Firefighters responded to the fire around 2:30 a.m. Friday. They say when they arrived, the two-story home was fully engulfed.
Police say no one was in the house home because it was uninhabitable due to a previous electrical fire that happened on May 25.
The public defender representing Mead did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
