Actress Hospitalized With Infection After Tooth Extraction

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Actress Elizabeth Taylor has been hospitalized for pain and infection following a tooth extraction, her physician said Friday.
Miss Taylor, 54, was admitted Thursday to Hospital of the Good Samaritan near downtown, Dr. Robert Thompson said.
Miss Taylor's increasing discomfort from the Sunday extraction on her upper left jaw ''could not be managed on an out-patient basis,'' Thompson said in a statement released by Miss Taylor's publicist, Chen Sam.
''I anticipate the hospitalization to be of a short duration,'' the statement said.
Hospital spokeswoman Betty Schuller said there was no condition report Friday on the actress. She said the release ''speaks for itself'' regarding the severity of the problem.
Miss Taylor had been scheduled to undergo the extraction Saturday, but put it off for one day so she could attend a fundraising show in which she received an award for her activities in raising research funds to fight the disease AIDS.
