VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ Japanese runners Hiromi Nishi and Yuuzean Segami finished 1-2, respectively, in Sunday's Vancouver International Marathon.
Hiromi, 33, beat a field of more than 2,600 over the 26-mile, 385-yard course in a relatively slow 2 hours, 21 minutes, 14 seconds. He had finished third in the race in 1983.
There was no official prize money and the event did not attract as many top runners as it had in previous years.
Roy Davis of Quesnel, B.C. finished third. He was followed by Canadians John Currie and James Jasieniuk.
The course was changed from previous years to keep the runners away from the crowds attending the third day of the Expo 86 world's transportation fair.
Favorite Joi Belyk of Saskatoon was the first women's finisher, in 2:45:37.
