EDMONTON, Alberta (AP)_ Anson Carter scored on a power play at 2:41 of overtime to cap the Edmonton Oilers' come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night.

Carter took a perfect return pass from Ryan Smyth and shot the winner past goaltender Bob Essensa.

Doug Weight had a goal and an assist in the third period to help bring the Oilers back from a two-goal deficit.

He tied the game 2-2 on a power play at 10:22 of the third when he snapped a shot past Essensa for his 10th goal of the season. Vancouver's Mattias Ohlund was serving a double high-sticking minor at the time.

Ohlund also was serving a boarding minor when Carter scored the winner.

Weight got an assist on Georges Laraque's goal 56 seconds into the third, which brought Edmonton within 2-1.

Janne Niinimaa assisted on all three goals.

Brendan Morrison and Matt Cooke each had a goal and an assist for the Canucks.

Salo made huge saves in the third period, including two good chances by forward Peter Schaefer. Salo finished with 22 saves.

Essensa made 31 saves.

Notes: Forward Sergei Zholtok played his first game at home since joining the Oilers on Dec. 18. He was traded to Edmonton from Montreal. ... Oilers rookie Shawn Horcoff has three goals and five points in his first six games since being called up from the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs.
