LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) _ New Mexico State center Chris Jackson will miss the first six games this season because he is academically ineligible.
The school said Friday that Jackson was ruled ineligible for the first semester of the 2002-03 season.
The 6-foot-10, 240-pound center led the Aggies in rebounding last season with an 8.5 average and scored 10 points a game.
Jackson is the second returning starter to be declared academically ineligible for the first semester. Junior forward James Moore also will miss the first six games.
Moore last season led the Aggies in field goal percentage at nearly 60 percent and averaged 14.8 points and 5.9 rebounds.
