DEDHAM, Mass. (AP) — Sentencing has been set for a man found guilty of stealing $130,000 from an elderly woman he worked for as a caretaker.
A Norfolk Superior Court jury found 34-year-old Radoslaw Czerkawski guilty of larceny and other offenses on Monday. Officials say Janina Stock was over 90 years old and in poor health when Czerkawski was her caretaker in 2013.
District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey says the two shared Polish heritage and language and that Czerkawski "abused that trust" and helped himself "to an enormous share of her personal assets."
Czerkawski also was indicted separately on multiple counts of animal cruelty involving a pit bull he allegedly abused at the Quincy home where he was being paid to care for Stock.
His sentencing is Tuesday morning in superior court.
