HARVEY WEINSTEIN PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO CHARGES

NEW YORK (AP) — "Eminently defensible." That's how Harvey Weinstein's lawyer describes the rape and criminal sex act charges the disgraced movie producer is facing. Benjamin Brafman is hinting he will use a series of legal challenges to kill the case before it reaches trial — even as his client has entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him. Meanwhile prosecutors are showing their own resolve — by continuing to interview potential victims of Weinstein's.

TRUMP - TWITTER

NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump is trying to regain the right to block his critics on Twitter. Government lawyers and the director of White House Social Media have filed paperwork to a federal judge in New York — asking that the blocking ban be eased. The paperwork doesn't list grounds for the appeal. Last month, Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald ruled people have a right to reply directly to politicians who use their accounts as public forums to conduct official business.

KATE SPADE'S DEATH INVESTIGATED AS SUICIDE

NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities in New York say it's an apparent suicide that took the life of fashion designer Kate Spade. She was found dead in her Park Avenue apartment yesterday morning, hanging in her bedroom. The NYPD chief of detectives says the evidence at the scene — including a note — points to "a tragic suicide." Other law enforcement officials say the note contains a message to Spade's 13-year-old daughter, saying what happened wasn't her fault. Spade founded Kate Spade New York, which she since sold. It has more than 140 retail shops and outlet stores around the U.S. — and close to 200 more internationally.

CHRIS FARLEY - LAWSUIT

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The family of late comedian and actor Chris Farley has filed a lawsuit against a bike company. The suit claims Wisconsin-based Trek Bicycle misappropriated Farley's name and comedy brand by naming its wide-tired bikes Farley. The lawsuit originated in California last year — but a judge has ordered it held in Madison, Wisconsin, which is closer to all parties involved. The suit says Farley weighed about 400 pounds and that the comedian spent his career capitalizing on his own brand of "fat guy" humor and acting.

TRUMP - EAGLES

WASHINGTON (AP) — They already won the Super Bowl. Now the Philadelphia Eagles are trying to come out on top in the Washington blame game. President Donald Trump and his administration are pointing fingers at the Eagles for the cancellation of yesterday's scheduled meeting between the president and the Super Bowl champs. Trump torpedoed the event after it became clear most players wouldn't show up. The White House accuses the team of pulling a "political stunt" by backing out at the last minute.

FOX - EAGLES

NEW YORK (AP) — In this battle between Fox and Eagles — the Eagles won. Fox News has apologized for showing photos of Philadelphia Eagles players kneeling in prayer, not protest — during a story about President Trump's canceling the White House ceremony honoring the team. The report aired late Monday and featured four still pictures of the Eagles during a report that mentioned "the national anthem controversy," where some NFL players knelt during the anthem the past two seasons to protest racism and protest police brutality.

TV RATINGS - NBA

LOS ANGELES (AP) — It's said familiarity breeds contempt. And when it comes to the NBA Finals, it can also breed disinterest. The latest TV ratings are out — and it indicates there's some viewer fatigue seeping in for the latest battle for basketball supremacy between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. It's the fourth straight season the teams have hooked up in the finals. Nielsen reports viewership so far this year is down from last year. At the same time, the first two games were the nation's most-watched programs.

SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS - HONESTY

WASHINGTON (AP) — It's a high-stakes game of "whom do you trust" — pitting the White House press secretary against the journalists who cover President Trump. Sarah Huckabee Sanders says she's "an honest person" who has more credibility than the media. The comments came during yesterday's press briefing — during which reporters pressed her on making an inaccurate statement about the Russia investigation. Sanders shot back, "Frankly, I think my credibility is probably higher than the media's."
