Following a two-yard TD run by Cal Lutheran's Billy Busch to cut the lead to 24-13, Hlavacek scored on a 76-yard run to give San Diego a 30-13 lead with 1:22 to go in the third quarter.
The Toreros added touchdown runs of four and 27 yards by freshman Matt Brown in the fourth quarter.
