Lawrence teen in critical condition after shooting
Jul. 22, 2016
LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) — Police say a 16-year-old Massachusetts boy is in critical condition after he was shot at least twice in the abdomen earlier this week in Lawrence.
The Eagle-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2a5Jhc7 ) the boy, who wasn't identified, was shot on Tenney Street at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.
Police Chief James Fitzpatrick says he's outraged that this type of incident would happen on a quiet summer night in this neighborhood.
Mayor Daniel Rivera called the shooting "an anomaly" and said that crime in the city is down overall.
The victim remains in serious condition at a Boston-area hospital.
Police don't think the shooting is drug- or gang-related, but they also don't believe it was random.
