STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) _ Tennessee center Kelli Casteel scored a career-high 20 points as the third- ranked Lady Volunteers beat Mississippi State 78-56 on Wednesday night.

Casteel, a senior, averaged 8.2 points a game season prior to the outburst over the Lady Bulldogs.

Tennessee (19-2, 7-1 in the SEC) led 32-23 at the half, and went on a 13-4 spurt to open the second half and take an 18-point lead. Mississippi State (12-9, 2-5) never got closer than 16 points after that.

Charetta Robinson, who scored 12 points before fouling out with 5:20 left, led four Lady Bulldogs in double figures. Natasha Johnson was 0-of-8 from the field but hit 11-of-11 free throws to reach double figures for the 14th time this season.

Peggy Evans scored 13 points, Jody Adams 12 and Dena Head 10 for Tennessee.
