Maine heating prices steady as fall settles in
Oct. 19, 2017
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — The Governor's Energy Office in Maine says the price of heating oil is holding mostly steady as fall settles in.
The statewide average cash price for No. 2 heating oil was $2.21 per gallon this week, up 2 cents from mid-September.
The statewide price of kerosene was down 2 cents, to $2.84. Propane prices have gone up 16 cents per gallon to $2.54.
The energy office says national average household heating oil costs are expected to be lower than the previous five year average this year. This is despite refinery shutdowns on the Gulf Coast during Hurricane Harvey.
The state found the highest heating oil price was $2.47, while the lowest was $1.95. Northern Maine had a higher average at $2.36 per gallon.
The figures reflect an Oct. 16 survey.
