LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Public Service Commission has levied at $10,000 fine against an Axtell seed business operating without a grain dealer license.

The order Tuesday follows a June hearing in which representatives of Roberts Seed Inc. were required to show cause as to why it shouldn't be assessed civil penalties for operating without a license. The Public Service Commission says state officials showed that the company committed 25 violations, and a company representative admitted to operating without a license and apologized to the commission.

The commission had issued a cease-and-desist order to Roberts Seed in May.

A phone message left at Roberts Seed on Tuesday seeking comment was not immediately returned.
