SAN DIEGO (AP) _ Brian Bruso scored seven of his 12 points during a 17-4 run midway through the second half and Sean Flannery led a balanced attack with 19 points Thursday night as San Diego rallied to beat Gonzaga 80-70.

Kyle Dixon led all scorers with 27 points for Gonzaga, the defending West Coast Conference regular-season champions.

The Bulldogs (11-2), playing their conference opener, trailed 35-27 at halftime, but took a 50-48 lead on a three-point-play by Dixon with 9:50 remaining.

But the Toreros (6-6, 2-0), held Gonzaga to one field goal over the next 7:42 in building a 65-54 lead. The Bulldogs weren't closer than seven points after that.

David Fizdale scored 14 points, Doug Harris added 13 and Ryan Williams had 12 for the Toreros, who made just under 58 percent of their field goal attempts.

Paul Rogers added 18 points for Gonzaga, which made 47 percent of its floor shots.

San Diego made just one field goal in the final 4 1/2 minutes, but convered 11 of its 14 foul shots in the last 1:22.

The Toreros went 9:15 without a field goal during one stretch of the first half, but still led by eight points at the intermission.
