PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Jerry Stackhouse scored 31 points and rookie Tim Thomas had 21 as the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Boston Celtics 116-101 in an exhibition game Saturday night.

Jim Jackson added 19 points, and Allen Iverson had 15 points and 10 assists for Philadelphia, which finished the preseason 4-4.

Walter McCarty, obtained this week in a trade with New York, led Boston (1-7) with 18 points, while Antoine Walker had 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Both teams open the regular season at home Friday night, with the 76ers playing Milwaukee, and the Celtics facing defending champion Chicago.
