May. 07, 1989
BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) _ Burmese guerrillas blew up two sections of a railway line in southern Burma, the state-controlled Rangoon Radio said in a report Sunday.
The radio, monitored in Bangkok, said the attacks occured Saturday on the line between Rangoon and Martaban and between the towns of Moulmein and Ye. No injuries were reported and train service was restored shortly after the raids, the radio said.
The attack was carried out by Karen and Mon guerrillas, it said. The Karens and Mons are among a dozen ethnic minority groups fighting for greater autonomy in Burma.
