Oct. 30, 2017
NEW YORK (AP) — A 38-year-old mother has admitted to smothering her 1-year-old child in the restroom of a Manhattan burger restaurant.
Latisha Fisher on Monday pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2015 death of her son, Gavriel Fisher.
Authorities say Fisher was arrested after she was discovered in the bathroom of 5 Boro Burger holding her son who was foaming from the nose and turning blue.
The New York Post reports that Fisher, who suffers from schizophrenia, told police the devil made her do it. She claimed she was protecting her son by putting him to sleep with her hand.
Her lawyer didn't immediately return a request for comment.
As part of her plea deal she's to be sentenced to 18 years in prison when she's due back in court Nov. 20.
