KARLSRUHE, West Germany (AP) _ A suspected member of the terrorist Red Army Faction was arrested after being wrestled to the ground by passersby during an attempted robbery, a spokesman for the federal prosecutor's office said Saturday.
Spokesman Hans-Juergen Foerster said Karl-Friedrich Grosser, 29, and an unidentified accomplice attacked two women who were depositing bags of money Friday in a bank night deposit chute in the southern town of Ludwigsburg.
Passersby wrestled Grosser to the ground and held him until police arrived, according to Foerster. The second suspect escaped.
Foerster said Grosser is believed to have become an active member of the anarchist Red Army Faction last November. Grosser was convicted of supporting a terrorist organization and was released from prison in April after serving part of a three-year sentence.
