Stocks Open Lower

NEW YORK (AP) _ Stock prices opened lower today. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 15 points. Decliners outnumbered advancers by about 7-to -5 on the New York Stock Exchange.
The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 9 points and the Standard-and-Poor's 500 Stock Index lost 1 point.
Wall Street finished last week by back-stepping after cautious words on the economy from Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan.
The selling has continued overseas today, with most foreign markets lower.
And there's been little reason for investors to change directions today, ahead of a busy week for the market.
Major U-S corporations this week begin releasing their fourth-quarter earnings statements.
Among those expected to report results in the coming days are G-M, Ford, Microsoft, Intel and eBay.
