ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) — Vermont police say a suspect is now back in custody after he suffered an apparent asthma attack during a standoff at a St. Albans apartment.
Authorities say 28-year-old Anthony Bray escaped while on furlough Wednesday morning. He was in custody for convictions including assault and robbery. WCAX-TV reports police responded to the apartment where Bray was hiding around 7:30 a.m. where he fled into a crawl space.
Around 10 a.m., officers discovered Bray was unarmed and they were able to extract him from the crawl space. Officials say he was treated for an asthma attack.
Bray's younger brother, who lives in the apartment, says he was not home at the time and had no idea Bray was hiding out in his apartment.
Bray was due in court Wednesday.
