BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) _ Top-seeded Anne-Gaelle Sidot of France advanced Wednesday to the quarterfinals of the Eurotel Slovak Indoor tennis tournament with a hard-fought 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Cristina Valero Torrens of Spain.

In other second-round matches of the $110,000 tournament, fourth-seeded Denisa Chladkova of the Czech Republic beat Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia 6-4, 6-3.

Another Czech player, Daniela Bedanova, easily won the first set but then battled hard to overcome Belgium's Els Callens 6-1, 7-6 (4).

In remaining first-round matches, third-seeded Justine Henin of Belgium ousted German Magdalena Kucerova 6-1, 7-5; Martina Sucha of Slovakia defeated Sandra Kleinova of the Czech Republic 6-4, 6-1; Miriam Oremans of Netherlands crushed Meike Babel of Germany 6-0, 6-0; and Karina Habsudova of Slovakia beat Emilie Loit of France 6-1, 6-1.
