SALT LAKE CITY (AP) _ A New Zealand race car driver was in serious but stable condition Wednesday at a Salt Lake hospital, where he was being treated for injuries sustained in an accident at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
Chris Harris, 39, suffered a crushed vertebrae in the rollover of his 27-T Roadstar on Monday, said University of Utah Health Sciences Center spokesman John Dwan.
Bonneville Speedway officials estimated Harris, a member of an Australian team, was traveling about 175 mph when his car flipped over six times.
Harris was taken by air ambulance to the hospital.
