North Carolina officer wounds woman as man won't drop gun

GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) — A woman has been shot and wounded after a North Carolina police officer fired at a man who refused to drop a gun.
News outlets reported Gastonia officers were called to a home around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
The Gaston Gazette reported police said a man refused to drop his gun and an officer fired. The bullet struck a woman who was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released. Her name has not been released.
Thirty-one-year-old Jarvis Sentell Lynn is charged with possession of a gun by a felon and resisting police. It was not known if he has a lawyer.
Police Chief Robert Helton said the officer is leave while police and the State Bureau of Investigation review the shooting. The officer's name has not been released.
