LORAIN, Ohio (AP) _ Andrew Van Sickle, a journalist who worked in Dayton, Mansfield and Lorain, died Tuesday at Community Health Partners. He was 44.

The cause of death was not immediately known. Van Sickle had suffered from liver failure and had a recent heart attack.

Van Sickle was a sports writer for The Morning Journal of Lorain from 1972-77, a sports editor for the Mansfield News Journal from 1978-90 and a copy editor for the Dayton Daily News from 1990-99.

He was a former president of the Ohio AP Sportswriters Association and Prep Sportswriters Association.

He is survived by his parents, a brother and a sister.

A memorial service is scheduled Friday at Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel.
