TORREMOLINOS, Spain (AP) _ An alleged Italian mafia boss and two family members have been arrested in southern Spain on suspicion of drug trafficking, a local newspaper reported Sunday.
Francesco Cavallo, 68, was arrested along with his son, Renzo Cavallo, 36, and daughter-in-law, Monica Tosoni, 30, in two separate operations Saturday, the leading daily El Pais reported.
The older Cavallo is wanted in Italy to serve a 13-year jail term for a drug trafficking conviction, and has also avoided several Spanish arrest warrants for suspected involvement in similar activities, the paper said.
In a weekend crackdown, police also nabbed Moroccan Nourdine Eraoui _ an alleged associate of the Italian trio _ along with $40,000, more than 440 pounds of hashish and 20 pounds of cocaine.
