Bears Sign Defensive End Robinson
Jul. 17, 2001
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) _ The Chicago Bears signed Bryan Robinson on Monday to a one-year transition tender offer, which is equal to the average of the top 10 salaries at defensive end.
Robinson, claimed by the Bears off waivers from the St. Louis Rams before the 1998 season, had a breakout season last year with a career-high 77 tackles and 4 1/2 sacks. He also had nine pass breakups, second highest of any Bear.
Robinson is a primary component of a revamped defensive line that includes newcomers Ted Washington and Keith Traylor at tackle, as well as veterans Phillip Daniels and Mike Wells at end.
