WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) _ Chasity Melvin scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as No. 18 North Carolina State took advantage of its effective full-court pressure to beat Wake Forest 75-46 Tuesday night.
The Wolfpack (11-1, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) led comfortably most of the way. Wake Forest would get no closer in the game than 10-8 with 14:49 left in the first half.
The Demon Deacons (4-8, 0-2) turned the ball over 15 times by halftime and N.C. State converted the turnovers into 18 points on the way to a 43-18 lead at the break.
N.C. State, which shot 52 percent (31-of-60) for the game, also got 16 points from Tynesha Lewis.
Wake Forest was led by Cynthia Kelley with 12 points, while Emon McMillian grabbed six rebounds in a losing effort.
