FRESNO, Calif. (AP) _ Jay Canizaro hit a three-run homer and Doug Mirabelli added a grand slam as the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies defeated the parent San Francisco Giants 15-4 in an exhibition game Thursday.
Jeff Ball and Armando Rios each had RBI singles in the first inning to give Fresno a 2-0 lead. Canizaro homered in the second as the Grizzlies put the game away with seven runs.
Mirabelli's grand slam came as Fresno scored six runs in the fifth inning.
Rick Huisman earned the victory, pitching 2 2-3 innings for the Pacific Coast League Grizzlies. The loss went to Mark Gardner, who gave up nine runs in four innings.
The game was played before a Beiden Field-record 7,075 spectators.
