LA County firefighter accused of downloading child porn
Jul. 14, 2018
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prosecutors say a Los Angeles County firefighter has been charged with downloading child pornography onto a computer at his firehouse.
Matthew David Winters was charged Friday with a felony count of possessing child pornography and a charge of destroying or concealing evidence.
Authorities say Winters downloaded the material to a computer at a fire station in El Monte, east of Los Angeles, between December 2017 and March 2018.
They also allege the 51-year-old Winters destroyed a computer hard drive in an attempt to conceal evidence.
A call to a telephone number listed for Winters in public records rang unanswered Friday afternoon.
A spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
